Necter

Necter

Necter was found by a lady from Athens who was visiting family. She was treating him and his mother for severe cat flu. Before she left, she contacted us and informed us about the two cats. As they weren’t improving, we attempted to catch them and take them to the vet. While we failed to catch the mother, we were able to catch the kitten. The vet diagnosed him with a severe case of cat flu, requiring treatment for at least a month. We brought him home but continued to monitor the mother. Since she wasn’t always present, we couldn’t administer her medication (as she was a stray cat, leaving medicated food out would attract other hungry strays).

Eventually, she recovered after a few weeks. Once Nectar was well, we attempted to release him to be reunited with his mother. However, despite our efforts for a week, we never saw the mother again. Consequently, Nector remained with us as he was still under three months old. In November of the same year, we managed to trap and sterilize both the mother and Nector at the same time through a free trap-neuter-release program. We kept Nectar and released the mother back to her area.
