513% More People Want to Rescue a Dog. Here’s Why It Matters Now More Than Ever

The new Superman movie may have brought epic action and nostalgia to the big screen. But something even more powerful is happening in real life.

According to Google Trends, searches for “Adopt a dog near me” and “Rescue a dog near me” have skyrocketed—by 513% and 163% respectively—since the film’s release. Something about the story stirred hearts and reminded people of a simple truth:

TRUE HEROISM BEGINS WITH COMPASSION.

513% More People Want to Rescue a Dog. Here’s Why It Matters Now More Than Ever

At Archie’s Cat Sanctuary here in Galatas, Greece, our mission has always been to rescue the voiceless. While we began as a haven for stray and injured cats, over time, our doors opened to dogs who had been abandoned, abused, or left behind.

Meet the Dogs Waiting for Their Hero

Right now, we’re caring for some of the most lovable, loyal, and resilient dogs you could ever meet. Some were tied up and dumped in remote places. Others were rescued injured, starving, or near death.

But today, they are safe. And they’re waiting for someone just like you.

These dogs don’t ask for much: food, a safe space, and maybe a human to love them back. Many of them are available for sponsorship, and some are even ready for adoption—locally or internationally.

Real-Life Heroism Looks Like This:
Charlie, the dog

Charlie, rescued in 2018, was initially found in town covered in ticks. After several attempts by people to take him to vets, we found him searching for food by the garbage bins on a bitterly cold night. Though initially wary of humans due to likely mistreatment, he gradually began to trust us. Despite still having a tendency to escape, he returns home for meals and has shown improvement in trusting humans.

This is just one of the many dogs at our sanctuary—each with their own story, and each waiting for someone to believe in them.
