We want to sincerely thank everyone who donated towards our vet bills. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve managed to cover Cauliflower, Midge, and Mungo’s bills, as well as most of Scooter’s—except for his most recent visit, where he had an x-ray and received a Convenia injection due to sudden, severe limping.
At Archie’s Cat Sanctuary, we are devoted to saving the lives of stray cats who need us the most—those who are sick, injured, or desperately in need of care. Through expert treatment and compassionate rehabilitation, we give these resilient animals a second chance. Some are able to return to their colonies, while others with ongoing medical needs find their forever home with us.
Right now, around 39 cats and 5 dogs call our sanctuary home, including four recent rescues with urgent medical needs. Rising veterinary bills, medications, and specialized diets have pushed our resources to the limit. We urgently need to raise €4000 to continue this lifesaving mission.
Crystal and Tommy continue to need regular vet care because of their ongoing health conditions. But thanks to you, the initial wave of bills has been covered—and that’s a huge relief.
As we care for many strays, there is always a cat or dog in urgent need of medical attention. Just yesterday (16th April, 2025), we rescued Ελπίδα—her name means “Hope” in Greek. We were on our way to the campsite to feed and walk the five stray dogs we look after when we saw a cat walking very slowly in the middle of the road. As we slowed down and approached, it became clear something was terribly wrong.
Luckily, we had a drop cage with us. We’d actually been told about a very sick cat in the area and were planning to search for her. As soon as we picked her up, we saw she was in a bad state—suffering from severe cat flu, painful gingivitis, extreme weight loss, and severe dehydration.

We rushed her to the vet that evening. She was immediately put on a drip and given antibiotics and pain relief injections, costing €50.00.
Elpída will need further treatment, including dental surgery—likely with extractions—once she’s strong enough and has gained some weight.
If she makes it through the Easter weekend, she’ll return to the vet for the next stage of her recovery.
Her name isn’t just a word. It’s what we’re clinging to—for her healing, her comfort, and a second chance at life.
Every rescue like Ελπίδα’s reminds us how vital our work is. And with your support, we can keep showing animals like her that hope is still very much alive.

We’ve also recently taken in 7 kittens that were dumped in a box. They are currently under quarantine and receiving treatment for parasites. Once they’re healthy enough, they’ll be vaccinated and, when ready, neutered/spayed and rehomed.
Your support makes all of this possible. Thank you for standing with us and helping us give these animals the care they so desperately need.
UPDATE: Hope passed away this morning (18th April, 2025).
